Despite the region’s high level of poverty and illiteracy, 90% of homes in the Arab world have access to television, and half of all households have satellite receivers. Broadcasting to the 10/40 Window
The “10/40 window” refers to the part of the world that is located between 10 and 40 degrees latitude north of the equator, spanning over 60 countries within North and Saharan Africa, the Middle East and most of Asia. Claiming 95% of the world’s poorest population, this vast region is also home to the world’s largest population of non-Christians … yet less than 1% of all Christian mission and outreach resources are dedicated to serve this area. Churches—where they exist at all—are few and isolated. Satellite television presents a unique opportunity to encourage the region’s followers of Christ and to edify the churches in each country.
