Satellite Television Technology: A Remarkable Ministry Opportunity!

No other medium in the Middle East can come close to the reach of satellite television. Why? Because satellite signals are beamed directly from sophisticated hardware in the sky to simple receivers in the home … and no existing technology is financially capable of effectively blocking such transmissions.

As the only Christian broadcast ministry transmitting culturally-sensitive programming in Arabic, Turkish and Farsi, the power of SAT-7’s virtually un-censorable satellite broadcasts is indisputable.

Despite the region’s high level of poverty and illiteracy, 90% of homes in the Arab world have access to television, and half of all households have satellite receivers. SAT-7′s region-wide television audience is 9 million Arabic-speaking viewers. Add in another 40 million satellite TV receivers in Turkey and Iran, and conservative estimates put SAT-7’s total audience in excess of 15 million people!

While transcending barriers and transforming lives, thousands of texts and e-mails confirm our daily impact . . .

Broadcasting to the 10/40 Window

The “10/40 window” refers to the part of the world that is located between 10 and 40 degrees latitude north of the equator, spanning over 60 countries within North and Saharan Africa, the Middle East and most of Asia. Claiming 95% of the world’s poorest population, this vast region is also home to the world’s largest population of non-Christians … yet less than 1% of all Christian mission and outreach resources are dedicated to serve this area. Churches—where they exist at all—are few and isolated. Satellite television presents a unique opportunity to encourage the region’s followers of Christ and to edify the churches in each country.

What is SAT-7?

SAT-7 broadcasts Christian programming via satellite transmission to transform the Middle East and North Africa through hope in Jesus Christ. Based in Cyprus, and operated by a board of denominational, business, and non-profit organization leaders, SAT-7 operates studios in Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Cyprus and the U.K.

Our five channels reach a combined audience of more than 15 million people.

SAT-7 ARABIC, SAT-7 KIDS and SAT-7 PLUS in the Arabic language;

SAT-7 PARS in the Farsi language; and

SAT-7 TÜRK in the Turkish language

Although this region is closed to most mission efforts, about one-half the population have access to satellite television, giving SAT-7 an unparalleled platform for bringing the Gospel to people who have no other means to hear it.

SAT-7’s Seven “Signal” Distinctions

  1. Executive Board comprised mainly of representatives
from churches in the Middle East.
  2. Programming that is politically and culturally sensitive, never attacking any other faith.
  3. NO advertising or sponsored programming.
  4. Specialized programming dedicated to children, youth and women.
  5. 80% of programming is created and hosted by
    native-speaking Middle Eastern Christians.
  6. Unique network of counseling and follow-up centers.
  7. Production centers located in multiple Middle Eastern countries.

In an often hostile culture where Christianity is distorted and stereotyped … and where violence and death are often glorified on other satellite channels . . . SAT-7’s programming is upbeat and colorful, reflecting the love of Christ and the beauty and practicality of the Christian faith.

Our Viewers

Rather than the hate-filled extremists so often portrayed in mainstream media, the majority of Middle Easterners are family-and community-minded people with dreams of peace and normalcy. They are men, women and children thirsting for hope and searching for trustworthy answers to life’s questions, small and great. Every day, we receive countless unsolicited comments from grateful viewers, testifying to the effectiveness of SAT-7’s Christian broadcasts.

Statement of Faith

SAT-7’s statements of faith are the Nicene Creed (below) and the Lausanne Covenant

THE NICENE-CONSTANTINOPOLITAN CREED (325 AD)

We Believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, Begotten from His Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

Who for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate.

He suffered and was buried, and the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father. And He shall come again in glory to judge both the living and the dead; and His kingdom shall have no end.

We Believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke by the prophets.

We Believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

Amen
