SAT-7 KIDS Celebrates 5th Anniversary!

December 10, 2012 marks the 5th anniversary of SAT-7 KIDS—now broadcasting to an audience of over 9.25 million children and youth! Amazingly, given the countries involved, a recent independent survey indicated one in three children in Iraq, and one in four in Saudi Arabia, watch SAT-7 KIDS.

Since SAT-7 KIDS became a 24/7 channel in December 2007, several events have bolstered its success. Moving from the Hotbird satellite to the more widely used Nilesat satellite made SAT-7 KIDS more accessible. In 2009, a Christmas episode was the first to be broadcast live, encouraging viewers to call hosts during the show. In September 2010, Why Is That? became the first SAT-7 KIDS show to be broadcast live on a weekly basis.

SAT-7’s newly installed Broadcast Traffic System (BTS) software has streamlined scheduling, data management, and asset management for all channels including SAT-7 KIDS. The new SAT-7 Audience Relations Management System (SARMS) software, live since May 2012, allows staff to manage viewer correspondence more efficiently.

Launched December 2011, SAT-7 KIDS website won a gold prize at the 2012 Pan Arab Web Awards. Children can visit the site to connect with their favorite program hosts and other personalities, learn Bible verses, take quizzes, and play games—just to name a few of the site’s outstanding features.

Rita Elmounayer, Executive Director for SAT-7 KIDS, reflected on the
5th Anniversary:

“Bedtime Stories” with Rita.

“Over the past 5 years… I have witnessed change brought to the whole family by children. These children, who are the future of the Middle East, are the ones who are going to continue the work SAT-7 has started. They will change the face of the Middle East from violence, hatred, and despair to love, hope, peace, and reconciliation because they were exposed since their early age to the love of God broadcasted through SAT-7 KIDS. Congratulations to SAT-7 KIDS, you are raising a whole new generation on solid foundations.”

One Response to SAT-7 KIDS Celebrates 5th Anniversary!

The summer before SAT-7 KIDS went 24/7, our church responded to the plea for help in funding this project. We used this as our summer VBS missions project. We raised approximately $300.00. It was a sizeable sum for a small inner city church; but, the children and the adults caught the vision of helping to reach millions of children across the Middle East and beyond. Now, as you celebrate this anniversary, it is a blessing to know one has been a part of getting it started; and now, individually, keeping it going. May Jesus continue to be made real to the children and their families.
