A change in plans can cause much stress in life. Afoosa, a viewer from Iran, shared with SAT-7 how a change in the weather interrupted travel plans while also bringing her and her family closer to Jesus. When all hope seemed lost, Jesus took the wheel of the vehicle and brought her and her family to safety.

Afoosa shared, “On the day that we were driving from northern Iran to my sister-in-law’s funeral in Sanandaj, we set off around 1:00 pm. A few kilometers into the journey, it began to rain heavily. The rain was so heavy that we could not see anything at all.” Afoosa and her husband panicked. “My husband was completely stressed out and then the windshield wipers stopped working. I was very afraid and concerned about what might happen to the six of us traveling in the car.”

Their travel plans were thwarted as they decided to pull over and wait out the rain. “We decided to stop on the side of the road in the hope that the rain might stop. Then the car’s heater stopped working and my husband could not restart the car.”

When everything seemed to be going wrong, Afoosa knew Jesus would never leave her. “I started to pray and call on the name of Jesus Christ. As I did so, I was filled with a deep sense of peace. It was as though Jesus himself was in the car with us. Then my husband turned the key in the ignition and the engine started.”

Afoosa wasn’t the only one in the car who felt Jesus had taken over the wheel. “We set off again in the heavy rain and although we were unable to use the windshield wipers, my husband said to me, ‘I don’t know what has happened, but I am not stressed anymore. It’s almost as though someone is with me and is not letting anything bad happen.’ We continued to drive through the rain as the night drew on, wipers still not working, and we followed the lights of a heavy goods vehicle in front of us.”

Through prayers, faith, and belief in Jesus, Afoosa and her family made it through a scary night of traveling to be with her family as they mourned the passing of her sister-in-law. “We drove eight hours through heavy rain and the Lord did not allow any harm to come to us. The Lord’s presence was with us and kept us from harm. Praise to the Lord!”

God is at work in the Middle East and North Africa. Please pray that viewers like Afoosa can continue to be exposed to God’s message through SAT-7.
