The devil shows up in many forms. Sometimes, it is in the face of strangers who want to harm us. Other times, it can be in the form of our own family members. Hasti from Iran shares her experience with a family member who is attempting to persecute her based on her faith in Christ. “A family member is persecuting my husband and I because of our faith. She has complained to the court, saying we have become infidels.”
The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Unfortunately, Hasti and her husband are faced with the devil trying to steal their joy, kill their faith, and destroy their lives. Hasti said, “She wants a large sum of money and is using our faith as manipulation.”
Hasti and her husband aren’t the only believers who face persecution. Their story is just one of many, especially as believers living in Iran. As God continues to pierce the hearts of the citizens in this country and others in the Middle East and North Africa, the devil continues to use non-believers to establish hesitation in Christians in this area.
However, many believers like Hasti refuse to give in to the intimidations. She said, “I’m fifty-five years old, and my husband’s health is failing. I know I’m not alone: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are with us. I refuse to deny my faith in Christ, no matter what. Please pray for us.”
We are told in the Bible that God’s plan is the only plan and Jesus Christ will make His appearance in this world once again. The hope and courage Christians receive from that promise continues to drive more Christians in the Middle East and North Africa to Him. Jesus’ light shines in any darkness.
